Lou Montulli - One of those humble figures in web history to whom we all owe a debt of gratitude. Back in 1991 Lou authored the Lynx browser. In 1994 he joined Mosaic Communications Corporation (soon to be called Netscape) where he was responsible for several keystone innovations like cookies, server push and client pull, HTTP proxying, and HTTPS over SSL. He was a founding member of the W3C HTML working group, and a contributing author of the HTML 3.2 specification. He also launched one of the first webcam sites of all time: fishcam.com. As you might guess, such a prestigious career is not blemish free: Lou's also to blame for the cursed <blink> tag. Shudder.
