Wireless Network Access Point (WNAP) Set Up Guide

or: How To Set Up a TWCN Node

3. Getting Started

In an effort to be as clear and efficient as possible, this guide presents three different methods for setting up your own Wireless Network Access Point:

Of course, these methods have been named arbitrarily by the author, and by no means is the naming convention indicative some public standard.

Assumptions

  1. You have basic computer, and networking skills.
  2. You have an existing Internet connection (can be of any type: high speed, low speed, dial-up, PPPoE, DSL, etc.)
  3. You've set up a stereo system sometime in your life. If you have the skills to plug the right stereo components into one another, you have the skill to set up a Type I WNAP, at the very least.
  4. You'll be purchasing and using equipment that conforms to the IEEE 802.11b specification, or is "WiFi compliant".

The more computer and network literate you are, the more enjoyment you'll receive from setting up a shared Wireless Network Access Point.
